Message from the Gabriola Medical Clinic — March 30, 2020

Everyone is being so considerate of our time, and we appreciate that very much. However, not all medical problems should or need to wait until this crisis is over before they are managed.

We are 100% still here to provide ongoing routine, urgent and emergency care. It just looks a little different right now, and needs to be organized to keep everyone safe.

You should not come to our door, but you should still call us.

Routine appointments are being done "virtually" by phone calls or videoconferencing apps. Urgent health needs are being triaged virtually and brought in for physical examination by the on-call doctor, who will wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Emergency care is provided through 911 and coordinated with our ambulance service just like always.

If you need a refill on medication call us.
If you have a new medical concern call us.
If you have a chronic health condition and want to touch base about how you are doing call us.
If you have mood changes, anxiety or mental health concerns and you need support call us.

We also know that not everyone has a family doctor. If you are not a patient of the clinic and have a medical concern, please call us and we will do our best to take care of your needs. We want to help prevent any unnecessary visits to Nanaimo. We are doing our very best to try and help everyone on Gabriola.

We look forward to the time when we can pull the doors of the clinic wide open again, but until then the doctors and staff are happy to care for you in this new virtual reality.
